Discovering brands – Formula 10.0.6

I’ve followed Formula 10.0.6 on Instagram for a while
now so of course I had to enter their competition!

If you’ve not heard of Formula 10.0.6 before, they’re a skincare brand that specialise in producing products for specific skin troubles, such as blocked pores, oily skin and skin prone to breakouts. The brand have been operating since 1933?! Where their products were sold exclusively by pharmacists – they have a pretty impressive history. They’ve been running competitions throughout July, and I was very lucky to win one!

I received two products in the giveaway, with the first being the So Totally Clean cleanser. It’s described as a deep pore cleanser, that removes dirt and excess oil, to prevent blocked pores. I’m always on a mission to find products that help unblock pores to get rid off/prevent pesky black heads! I’ve been using this product as more of a makeup remover because of it’s liquid consistency, followed by my Sond cleanser or the Liz Earle Hot Cloth cleanser. (I have other blog posts about both of these products – see end of post for direct links!*) The product does work well in removing makeup/dirt, but it makes my skin slightly tingly. When checking the back of the product, I discovered that it’s made with alcohol and is not recommended for sensitive skin.. I believe these are the reasons why mine didn’t feel right – my skin must be more sensitive than I thought!

The second product is the Seriously Shine Free moisturiser – a mattifying oil free moisturiser. I’ve been testing this product, even though my skin is more on the dry side. But I do get oiler skin in hotter weather and around that time of the month. The moisturiser contains aloe vera and bamboo extracts, to absorb any excess oil, which also helps to unblock pores. I feel like I can’t truly comment on it’s affects for oily skin but it’s very moisturising and did help my skin at its oilier times! I really like the consistency of the moisturiser, as it’s more of a thick, gel and also has a sweet but subtle smell.

Despite the products not being as suited to my skin as I expected, I did enjoy trying them, as I love discovering new brands – there are so many amazing brands that don’t get the credit they deserve! The products are great quality and include very skin-benefiting ingredients, but sadly they’re just not right for me. I’d love to try a Forumla 10.0.6 product that is better suited to my skin and I have my eye on their Pores Be Pure mud mask – a skin clarifying mud mask, made using strawberry, rosemary and yarrow, to unclog blocked pores. It sounds fab – as well as having another catchy name!

I’ll be giving these products to my friend, as she has oily, spot prone skin and could really benefit from them! Wouldn’t want to waste good products!! Formula 10.0.6’s skincare is available in Boots stores and online at Boots and ASOS.

I have combination, mostly dry skin and I have been loving their Be Berry Ready Cleanser. I looked for one that didn’t claim to remove oil, and it was perfect. Great post as always x
